A crystal you can hold that behaves like an anthill

A crystal you can hold in your hand acts like an anthill. Scientists fired neutrons at a centimeter sized sample made of cerium, palladium, and silicon. They found groups of at least nine quantum entangled entities acting together. The crystal's response cannot be explained by independent particles. It behaves like a colony where the whole group responds as one. The team used quantum Fisher information to analyze the data. The results were published in Nature Physics in July 2026. This is a first step toward materials that host large scale entanglement.
